UE has achieved Dual Seal compliance to ANSI/ISA 12.27.01, “Secondary Seal Requirements for Process Sealing between Electrical Systems and Flammable or Combustible Process Fluids.” The standard requires back-up seals or equivalent protection for instrumentation to safely separate flammable process fluids from process electrical equipment. UE’s Dual Seal compliance ensures that UE 12 Series pressure switches can be used within hazardous environments without added cost of external, secondary sealing methods to satisfy the standard.

Many instrumentation manufacturers have been slow to implement Dual Seal compliance, leaving end-users to specify costly external secondary sealing methods or look for alternative solutions. For electromechanical switch products, Custom Control Sensors (CCS) is the only other manufacturer to currently offer Dual Seal compliant switches and they are limited in the pressure ranges offered. Now is a great time to promote the 12 Series pressure switches to end-users operating in hazardous areas affected by these secondary seal requirements.
