UE PRESSURE & TEMPERATURE SWITCHES ARE ATEX CERTIFIED FOR USE IN EUROPEAN INDUSTRIES
Watertown, Ma - United Electric Controls (UE)
A worldwide leader in the manufacture of pressure and temperature switching and sensing devices, offers two hazardous location products – the Spectra 12 Series & the 120 Series – that are certified to ATEX Directive 94/9/EC (Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Directive). ATEX certification allows these versatile products to be used within the European Union in applications where potentially explosive atmospheres (created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mist, and dust) exist.
The rugged and compact Spectra 12 Series explosion-proof switch is ideal where shock and vibration are prevalent since a Belleville spring assembly provides sensor and set point stability. A stainless steel enclosure and hermetically sealed micro-switch provide protection from harsh environments. The 120 Series is a popular and proven explosion-proof switch with the flexibility of dual-conduit wiring to a terminal block and a cover lock to restrict unauthorized access to the wiring and adjustment compartment. Both product lines offer a broad selection of pressure ranges, wetted material and pressure ports, covering vacuum to 6000 psi / 414 bar. Differential pressure models start as low as 0.2 “wcd and extend to 500 psid / 34 bar. Temperature switch models have a choice of remote bulb and capillary sensing or local immersion stem, and cover ranges from -180 °F to +650 °F (344 °C). All models are available for immediate delivery.
Demko A/S (UL International) was the notified body that issued the ATEX certification to UE for the Spectra 12 Series and 120 Series product lines. They verified that the requirements of the “new approach” ATEX Directive (which replaced the “old approach” CENELEC flameproof protection standards) were being met, and audited UE to assess product procedures and policy were adhered to per ATEX standards.
UE has a complete family of pressure and temperature products that include mechanical and electronic switches, transmitters, transducers, and sensors.
